This was a drainage correction job where the old concrete and area around it were not draining water. A really good crushed limestone paver base is good drainage alone. Here we guide the water runoff to the dry stream beds. We have 4 inch perforated drain pipe in a silt sock at the bottom of the drainage stream beds. This runs under the lawn down hill and is emitted using a standard 4 inch emitter. A lot of water does percolate into the ground using this approach. We wish every customer had room for a rain garden. Water runoff is an important part of any job, even if the customer isn't having water problems at the present.
Sometimes the customer is having the deck built right before we start. Here we have the oportunity to make sure the post footings are poured low enough, such that we have room to paver over them and trim pavers cleanly to the post. The area around newly installed deck posts requires carefull compacting, or settling can ocurr.
The paver base must be graded and compacted to perfection to achieve good drainage, and good visual results.
